One Year Old

20070120at Kat's first birthday partyKathleen is now one year old. She turned one on Sunday. We had her birthday party on Saturday, and then on Sunday left her with the grandparents as we were invited to a wedding. Bad mummy for abandoning the baby on her birthday.

The party was great. We had lots of friends come over to wish Kat a happy birthday. It was hard to fit everybody inside the house. Peter did a great job on the BBQ and although the weather could have been better, the drizzle didn't last long.

20070120bb Kat's first birthday partyKathleen got given lots of new clothes and lots of toys. Thank you very much to everybody. She's still a bit young for some of the toys so I am going to put them away until she's a bit older. I'll probably plan on pulling them out in another six months and wrapping them up again so she can have the fun of opening presents again. 11 months is a long time to wait until Christmas, and I'm sure as she gets older she'll hate having her birthday in January.

20070120bl Kat's first birthday partyIt's still hard to believe my baby is now one year old. It's even harder to believe how far she's come in that year. She's gone from a little screaming thing that did nothing but lay there and scream, to a little person who can go where she wants and either get what she wants or communicate it by pointing. She's gone from a baby who couldn't even hold onto things, to someone who can pass you things and is learning to throw a ball. I remember when she first learnt to pick up her Kaloo Bear, it was so exciting. That seems like a long time ago now. There have been so many milestones along the way this year, it's getting hard to remember them all. And I'm sure there are lots more milestones to come in the next 12 months as well.

Couldn't help but smile on your comment how she'll hate having birthday in January... :p
Thanks for dropping by. Kathleen is a gorgeous baby, or I should say toddler....
Enjoy your time with her, she won't be ever the same again! (I'm freaking out myself thinking how fast babies grow!)
